Veravel: As assembly election 2017 is nearing candidates are also busy in campaigning. Bhaniben a voter of Chhatroda village of Somnath assembly constituency, had witnessed 19th century dependence period and India’s Independence in the 20th century and now going to vote in the 21st century at the age of 110 years.
Harsukhbhai Rathod the son of Bhaniben is a teacher said that she had witnessed 7 generation. Since it was not customary to register birth date at that time but in election card, her age is 110 years registered but actually her age is 120 years. Talking about her time she told that at that time they used the wooden stamp with the cross mark on it to cast the vote. They use to stamp before the name of the candidate on the ballot paper, fold it and cast the vote in the ballot box. While sharing her first experience of voting she told that her husband voted with his thumbprint on behalf of her as she was uneducated.
Thereafter since India got Independence she is regularly voting. She is also ready to vote in this assembly election and appealed all the eligible voters to cast their vote.
