Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested an Raghu Desai, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Bavlu police station in Mehsana while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000. According ACB sources, the complainant in the case was held with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) few days back.
However, one Arun Thakor who worked as a middle man, contacted the complainant and demanded Rs 50,000 on behalf of ASI assuring him safety in the police custody. Thakor also assured that cops will not seek his remand from court. ACB official said that one of complainant’s relatives lodged complaint against Desai. ACB sleuths laid the trap and held Desai while he was accepting Rs 50,000 cash from from the complainant.
