I was afraid to work with producer Harvey Weinstein: Sandra Bullock
Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock spoke at length about producer Harvey Weinstein. She recalled hearing about him though she had never worked with him. She said that she hears stories of women accusing him of wanting to sleep with women for roles and confessed that she was afraid of him. So, she learnt to shut off those things and only heard what Harvey wanted people to hear. Later, she found out about all the women who were attacked by him. Sandra said that she was afraid of him.
She recalled an instance early in her film career where a person of authority came across a similar situation but tried deflecting him with humour before asking the person to fire her. She added that it was a lesson and post that, she tended to remove anything that could be misconstrued as sexual.
Reacting to this statement, Weinstein’s attorney Ben Brafman issued a statement, which read: ‘Accordingly, with all due respect to Ms Bullock, it is not right for her to take unproven ‘allegations’ and republicize them in an effort to deprive Mr. Weinstein of due process and possibly a fair trial that every citizen in this great country is entitled to.’
