Arvind Panagariya goes back to ‘first love’

Arvind Panagriya has resigned as vice-chairman of NITI Aayog, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half year stint at the helm of India’s revamped planning commission.

After resigning from Yojana Bhawan, Panagariya is tipped to return to his first love, that is teaching to Columbia University.

NITI Aayog, which came into effect on 1 January 2015, replaced the 65-year-old Planning Commission, considered by many in the NDA establishment of being a vestige of the Nehruvian-Socialism era.
