Nigheswar Rao has started taking action as soon as the government is seen in action on the complaint of the CBI‘s senior investigating agency officers. The agency has transferred its 12 officials with immediate effect, including those officers who were investigating allegations related to Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
Taking action against the CBI director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana, the government has decided to send the two officials on leave for the dispute. After which, Joint Director Nageshwar Rao has been appointed as the Interim Director of CBI. Many officers have been removed immediately with Nageshwar’s command. Among them, Ajay Bassi, deputy SP, who is leading the investigation team of Asthana Case, has been sent to Port Blair.
Apart from this, Joint Director Arun Sharma has been removed from the Jedi Policy and Jedi Anti-Corruption Headquarter. Also, AC III DIG Manish Sinha has been removed from his post. CBI has put Rakesh Asthana case in fast track investigation.
CBI has filed an FIR against Special Director Rakesh Asthana. In this case, there is a charge of taking bribe from businessman Satish Sana, a businessman involved in a case involving meat businessman Moin Qureshi in Asthana. Rakesh Asthana is the head of the SIT for the investigation of this case. FIR against Rakesh Asthana for allegedly accepting bribe from meat exporter Moin Qureshi has been registered against many others.
At the same time, after this FIR was lodged, Rakesh Asthana pleaded over Alok Verma and accused him of conspiracy. Asthana wrote a letter to the government and said that some officials of the CBI and ED are plotting against them.
