Supreme court is hearing a petition against the government’s decision to withdraw the authority from Alok Verma and send him on leave. The court said that the Attorney General has told them that the circumstances behind this situation were made in July. Attorney General Casey Venugopal, the senior legal officer present on behalf of the Central Government, told the court: “The fight between Alok Verma and Rakesh Athan had increased a lot and it became the issue of public debate. During the hearing, Attorney General K Venugopal said that the dispute between the director of the investigating agency and the special director was hurting the loyalty and prestige of this prestigious institution. According to the language, the Attorney General told the Supreme Court that the fight of two top officials Alok Verma and Rakesh Asthana became public which made the CBI ridiculous.
During the hearing, Venugopal said that the struggle between Verma and Asthana had created an unprecedented and extraordinary situation. The Attorney General said that our main objective is to ensure that public confidence in this major investigation agency of the country is restored. Earlier, Alok Kumar Verma had argued in the Supreme Court that his appointment was made for two years and can not be changed. Even he can not be transferred even On the petition of Alok Verma, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had said that we are not going in allegations and contradictions. We are investigating this issue purely in the form of law.
