Citizens demand dustbins

Lunawada: At Santarampura town, the dustbin worth Rs. 10 lakhs which were granted by the government for everyone, reaches to only tax payer citizen. According to the citizen, these dustbins had been provided for the maintenance of the cleanliness.

The method is adopted by the Santarampura Municipal Corporation is that the dustbin is only given to the citizens those who pay property tax or who goes to pay the city tax. The citizens are disappointed with such attitude of the corporation. Actually, there is no such law that states that the tax payers only possess the right to acquire the dustbin.

The government had decided to distribute 2 dustbins to everyone, so that it becomes easy, to collect the dry and wet garbage in two different bins.

The perk of providing dustbin for only tax payers is not appropriate, the notice can be sent to the tax payers to remind them about the taxes. According to the law, the dustbins should be provided to each and everyone. The Chief Officer Mayur Joshi informed that such decision was only taken so that the tax revenue can be used to pay the salaries of the Municipality employees.
