Banaskantha/Patan: The state govt has begun drafting the new rehabilitation and resettlement policy for the flood-affected North Gujarat, including Banaskantha and Patan. According to information, around 50 villages will likely to be moved to the new locations.
On Friday, chief minister Vijay Rupani met top officials of the revenue department and GSDMA (Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority) where he asked that a new policy is prepared for resettlement of people from flood-affected areas.
As per the sources, the top officials said that “We have identified around 50 villages from the BK and Patan districts which were submerged in 2015 and recent floods.”
Technical experts from the irrigation and other departments are evaluating the situation from field surveys and satellite imagery to identify rehabilitation sites, he added.
