International kite festival celebrated at Saputara

Dang: The International Kite Festival was organized by Gujarat
Tourism Department at hill station Saputara, on Thursday, where the master kite
flyers from 9 countries and 2 states entertained the tourist with their
creative kites.

International Kite Festival 2018 was
organized by Dang District Administration and Gujarat Tourism Department at
Governor Hill, Saputara. This festival was inaugurated by President of Dang
District Panchayat and Director of Gujarat ST Nigam Baburaobhai Coriya, where
Collector of Dang and Ahwa, Manager of Tourism Department was present along
with other dignitaries. On this occasion, Baburaobhai Coriya welcomed all the
kite flyers and said that Saputara Tourism sector is getting a new identity
with the help of kite festival celebration by Gujarat Tourism, as it attracts a
large number of tourists. The Collector of Dang Ahwa gave the information that
since last 5 years such kite festivals are being organized at Saputara hill
station by the Gujarat Government. According to him, only the smart kite flyer
could manage to fly his kite at Saputara as the wind pressure is against the
ocean. On this occasion, total 29 kite flyers were present in the event that
includes International flyers from Thailand, Philippines, Poland, Russia,
Ukraine and USA along with the national flyers from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and
Uttarakhand. All these flyers were present on the special invitation to display
their kite flying skills. Saputara has acquired success in attracting the
tourist with the passing days as the flow of tourist has been increasing. Also,
Tourism Department had availed the necessary facilities for all national and
international tourists.

In this kite festival, the Flyers had
flown different kinds of uniquely designed kites which entertained school
students, tourist and the local people. Sabrina from UK said that she visited
India for the first time and she enjoyed flying kite at Saputara and visiting
various tourist destinations. She further said that Dang and the entire Indian
Culture is full of diversity and people are very cooperative. She had so much
fun in enjoying culture and delicious food.

It is worth mentioning that Saputara
is enriched with the natural beauty of high hills, curvaceous roads and
enchanting views of the valleys which attract thousands of tourists. Government
and Tourism Department is also providing various facilities to promote the
tourism. During the kite festival, students from various schools of Dang
welcomed the tourist by performing special cultural programs while the local
people performed Dangi dance, koli, songs, Madad dance, pavari dance and
Ghoomar.
