On Sunday night, the heavily armed intruders of BAT ambushed Indian soldiers, killing three and seriously injuring another one. BAT, which consists of regular Pakistani soldiers and terrorists, carries out operations across LoC to make a dent in the Indian army and paramilitary forces. Reiterating to their attacks, the Indian soldiers killed two of them, a senior officer said.

On Monday night, Shimpu developed labor pains and was admitted to Ramban hospital. At 4:15 AM on Tuesday, she delivered the daughter. ”The daughter I have given birth today is the nation’s daughter and I wish she becomes an army officer,” she said. She added the army should take care of her daughter, and provide all facilities before she joins the forces.

Shimpu and Singh got married in 2006. She bid a tearful goodbye to her husband at cremation ground at Seri Ghat on Chenab’s bank. Singh’s last rites had noises of ‘Shaheed Ranjeet Amar Rahe’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The funeral was attended by army, police, civil administration officers and local residents. The funerals of the other two soldiers took place on Monday.
