Livestock Farming with Care

Lunawada, Mahisagar: Currently, due to monsoon season, the weather is either rainy or cloudy due to which there is inadequate sunlight. Hence, to save the livestock from the infection and disease, a guidance program was been organized by the Director of Animal Husbandry for the live stock farmers.

The live stock farmers were informed to take care of fodder. As the fresh grass weed that grows along with the fodder in the fields, may contain increased level of poisonous nitrate compounds, if such fodder is feed then the live stocks may suffer from nitrate poisoning and in some cases, the death of the animals was also recorded in past. With nitrate poisoning, animals may show the symptoms like the seizure, loose motion, breathlessness, dizziness, plenty of saliva secretion, stomachache, inflammation, etc. If the animal is not immediately treated then it can be fatal.

The green grass should be dried out for few hours before feeding it to the animals. By drying the green grass the power of poisonous substances decreases which in turn reduces the chances of poisoning to the animals.

Director of District Animal Husbandry informed to the live stock farmers to take immediate medical help in case of any infection or disease as the environment is too humid. To avoid certain diseases, the animals should be vaccinated as a precaution.
